The Houstoun family has owned property in East Lothian since the early 1800's and while the location of the properties has changed on a number of occasions over the years the beauty of the county remains - which was the reason for the initial purchase.
Gullane is a town on the southern shore of the Firth of Forth, there has been a church in the village since the 9th century which can still be seen at the western entrance to the village. Gullane Bents the village's award winning beach is a delight for all and is a part of the John Muir Way, a long-distance footpath along the coast between Musselburgh and Dunglass. It is also the home of Muirfield which has hosted The Open Championship on numerous occasions, in addition it is site of several other high-quality golf courses in the village and surrounding area.
